01 — Overview
Privacy Mode is free. There's nothing to refund. This policy only applies to Speed Mode subscriptions ($7/month). If you're using Privacy Mode, you haven't paid us anything and never need to.
Our refund philosophy is simple: if you feel you didn't get what you paid for, we'll make it right. We'd rather refund you and earn your trust than keep $7 and lose a user.
02 — Refund eligibility
Full refund — no questions asked
You are eligible for a full refund of your most recent monthly charge if you request it within 14 days of being charged. No reason required. We won't ask why, and we won't try to talk you out of it.
Pro-rated refund
If you request a refund more than 14 days after a charge but before the end of your billing period, we will issue a pro-rated refund for the remaining unused days in your billing cycle.
Service disruption refund
If Speed Mode is unavailable or significantly degraded for more than 24 consecutive hours due to issues on our end, you are entitled to a full refund for that billing period — regardless of when you request it. We'll proactively issue credits when we're aware of outages.
Accidental charge
If you were charged after you believed you'd cancelled, or if a payment was processed in error, we will refund the full amount immediately upon notification.
03 — How to request
Three ways to request a refund — use whichever is easiest for you:
From the app
Go to Settings → Subscription → Request Refund. Follow the prompts. This is the fastest method — most refunds are processed automatically within minutes.
Email us
Send a message to billing@voxnotes.xyz with your account email and the word "refund." That's all we need. We'll process it within 48 hours.
Stripe customer portal
You can manage your subscription directly through the Stripe billing portal linked in your account settings. This includes viewing invoices and requesting refunds.
04 — Processing timeline
Refund request → Money back in 5–10 business days
We process refund requests within 48 hours (usually same day). After we initiate the refund, it takes 5–10 business days for the funds to appear back on your card or payment method, depending on your bank. We'll email you a confirmation with a refund reference number once it's processed on our end.
If you haven't received your refund after 10 business days, check with your bank or payment provider first. If they confirm no refund was received, email us with the reference number and we'll investigate immediately.
05 — Common scenarios
Here's what happens in the situations we see most often:
"I subscribed 3 days ago and it's not for me"
Within our 14-day window. Full refund, no questions asked.
Full refund"I forgot to cancel and got charged again"
Accidental charge. We'll refund the full amount immediately.
Full refund"Speed Mode was down for 2 days"
Service disruption. Full refund for that billing period, plus we'll likely issue it proactively.
Full refund"I used it for 20 days but want to cancel"
Past the 14-day window. Pro-rated refund for unused days remaining in the cycle.
Pro-rated refund"Transcription quality wasn't what I expected"
Within 14 days? Full refund. Beyond 14 days? Email us — we'll review case by case and usually side with you.
Full or partial"I want a refund for 6 months ago"
We can refund up to 2 billing periods back. Beyond that, we're limited by what our payment processor allows.
Up to 2 monthsIf your situation isn't listed here, email us. We default to generosity — it's better to refund and keep your trust than to argue over $7.
06 — After a refund
Your account
After a refund, your Speed Mode access ends immediately (or at the end of your current billing period if you simply cancelled without a refund). Your account is not deleted — it reverts to Privacy Mode (free).
Your notes
All your notes remain on your device, completely unaffected. Notes that were synced via cloud backup remain accessible until your account is deleted. We do not hold your data hostage — a refund is not a punishment.
Re-subscribing
You can re-subscribe to Speed Mode at any time from your account settings. There is no penalty, waiting period, or "you already got a refund" blocklist. We want you back when the time is right.
We'd rather lose $7 than your trust
Refund policies exist because companies don't trust their customers. We'd rather start from trust and deal with the occasional bad actor than make honest people jump through hoops. If our product is good, people will pay for it voluntarily.
